Mexico’s Los Cabos celebrates its presence in recent world travel rankings while preparing the announcement of a new ATP tennis tournament.
“Los Cabos has consolidated itself as the premium travel destination in Mexico” Ruben Reachi, director of the Los Cabos Touristic Promotion Trust (TPT), said in a phone call. The region scored a historical record of 1,800 million visitors by air in 2015. Reachi highlighted the result as a “big achievement after the recent recovery from the damage caused by Hurricane Odile” that devastated beach resorts and left some 30,000 people living in shelters in 2014.
Forbes expressed similar perceptions on January 22. The magazine published its Travel Guide's 16 top destinations for 2016 in which Los Cabos obtained the 4th position, just above Paris. The online article praises golf courses, new resorts and also brings up the hurricane disaster by saying that Los Cabos “is back and better”.

New hotel complexes including JW Marriot, Hard Rock and Vie Vage, which represent $1000 million dollars investment, are about to open, the TPT director informed. Average hotel rates in Los Cabos, Baja California, can reach $270 American dollars per night. A national ranking of on-line reputation, made available by Trivago PR and communication chief Manuel Delgado, puts San Jose del Cabo in the 15th position on the list, reporting a figure of 83.6 % satisfied visitors.

With 14 prestigious golf clubs, Los Cabos made a name for itself as “the Mexican capital of golf” but now Solaz Los Cabos Hotel will also host the second ATP world tour tournament in Mexico. The Mexican open 250 Los Cabos will be held from August 8 to August 14, 2016. Details of the new tennis competition will be confirmed at a press conference within 2 weeks but “no participant names can be revealed now”, Ruben Riachi commented.
